The Blue Mountains are a popular tourist destination whilst traveling the East Coast of Australia. It is a place that is famous for its dramatic scenery, steep cliffs, forests, waterfalls and quaint villages.
– Blue Mountains are situated 65km inland from Sydney.
– I think a good plan would be to visit this place as soon as we pick up the camper van.
– From what I can gather it costs $8 for a daily car entry into Glenbrook from Sydney but this is the only charge you will have to pay if you decide to leave that area and drive further through the Mountains.
– There are lots of activities to do and towns to visit.
– Wentworth Falls – waterfalls, gorges, woodlands and rainforests.
– Leura – Sublime Point lookout offers great views between cliff edges. A lot quieter that Echo Point.
– Katoomba – biggest and busiest town in the mountains. Echo Point. Three Sisters. Arrive early or late to avoid hoards of tourists.
– Blackheath – good base to visit the Grose and Megalong Valleys.
– You can go on Bushwalks…To find walks to suit our abilities go to the information centre in Glenbrook, Katoomba or NPWS Blue Mountain Heritage Centre in Blackheath. Most famous Bushwalking areas are Jamison Valley or Grose Valley.
– You can also rent bikes to cycle various areas.
– Bells Line of Road – good if you have your own transport and is the most scenic route.
If you can get to it, Jenolan Caves is fab for bushwalking too

Hi, not managed to get out to the Blue Mountains yet but they are supposed to be incredible. We’re currently in Sydney as part of our little JWalking trip (https://jwalkingin.wordpress.com/) and loving it, spending a few days over in Manly at the moment and thoroughly recommend a visit.

Yes, lonely planet definitely recommends the place! I’m heading over in December for the NYE fireworks and then traveling the east coast in a camper. Cannot wait!!
