Research: Ballina & Byron Shires

The stretch of coast is a little more lively offering ‘party locations’.

– Ballina has white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. Sounds like a great place to visit. Is quieter than Byron Bay. It also has a big prawn – whatever that is.

– Lennox Head has some of the best surf along the coast. Has a laid back atmosphere.

– Byron Bay, a place I have heard about before, probably because it is a big tourist attraction due to its free spirited hippie surfer vibe with a small town soul. Belongil Beach west of the town avoids most of the crowds. Clothing optional. The Pass is the most popular sure beach. Tallow beach is another place to flee the crowds and offers an amazing 7km sandy stretch. Lots of activities on offer such as surfing, sky diving, spa days, diving, kayaking etc.

– Bangalow has a high street with interesting stores, great places to eat and excellent pubs. Best time to visit is the fourth Sunday of every month for the Bungalow Market open between 9am-3pm. It also has a well regarded cooking school http://www.leahroland.com
